Social-Emotional Leadership is our evidence-based framework that emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence and social skills in student leadership. Developing students' Social-Emotional Leadership leads to improvement in students' engagement with school, sense of belonging, and grades.

This 8-hour, self-paced, online leadership course aims to familiarize teachers with Social-Emotional Leadership and equip them with tools to support incorporating the principles of Social-Emotional Leadership into their classrooms.

As participants progress through this course, they will develop:

  • Familiarity with the attributes of Social-Emotional Leadership
  • A facilitative approach to teaching
  • Debriefing skills through practice and application
  • An original lesson plan that integrates Social-Emotional Leadership into their curriculum
  • An understanding of our book, Social-Emotional Leadership: A Guide for Youth Development.

At the end of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for 8 hours of professional development.

Important Information About How This Course Works:

  • This course is intended to be cohort-based. We recommend creating cohorts of 5–25 participants.
  • This course is sold on a per-seat basis. Use the “quantity” field next to the “Add to Cart” button to purchase multiple seats. Each seat includes a single-use user license, and purchase is required for each participant every time the content is delivered.
  • The course is licensed through our online platform, CCL Leadership Accelerator, and is managed and assigned through an administrator account.
    • Within one business day of purchase, you'll receive an email notification from support@ccl.org to confirm that the course seats have been added to your administrator account and are ready to use.
    • If you are a new user, you'll receive an email invitation to the platform and instructions for getting started from the same email address.
